Apple has decided to buy part of the business of the German chip manufacturer Dialog Semiconductor Plc, as the company announced on Thursday. The cost of the deal, which significantly strengthens the position of the iPhone smartphone manufacturer in Europe, is $ 600 million. About half of this amount is an advance payment from Dialog for the supply of chips over the next three years.

According to the terms of the deal, a team of Dialog specialists of 300 people, most of whom have already been engaged in the production of chips for the company's devices from Cupertino, is moving to Apple. Apple also becomes the owner of Dialog patents and its offices in the UK, Italy and Germany.

Dialog noted that the deal will not affect its revenues in 2018 and it will continue to supply products in production for Apple.

Dialog is a long-time partner of Apple. Since the first iPhones were released more than 11 years ago, Apple has been using Dialog chips to power smartphones.

At the moment, the deal removes questions about the future relationship between Apple and Dialog, whose shares have fallen in price this year, when the company from Cupertino said it plans to use chips from another supplier, which, as many assumed, would be herself.
