Cameras for Apple iPhone 13 will be supplied by a new company
|TFI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, known for his accurate predictions about Apple products, said the Cupertino-based company is attracting a new lens supplier for a new line of iPhone smartphones. |
According to an authoritative source, Sunny Optical will join Largan, Yujingguang and Kantatsu, which supply lenses to LG Innotek for assembly. At the same time, Sunny Optical will be responsible for the supply of lenses for the main camera with seven plastic lenses.
Apple often chooses multiple vendors for at least two reasons. First, if one company has problems, others can always make up for the lack. Secondly, the presence of several suppliers gives Apple the opportunity to achieve more attractive prices for components.
This week, Barclays analysts Blayne Curtis and Thomas O'Malley said that all four iPhone 13 models will receive upgraded ultra-wide-angle cameras with different apertures, up to F/1.8, while the aperture of the iPhone 12 wide-angle lens is F/2.4.
