GIGABYTE H310M DS2V DDR3 motherboard for Coffee Lake

GIGABYTE introduced a rather interesting motherboard called h310m DS2V DDR3. As it is easy to guess by the name, its key feature is the presence of slots for DDR3 memory modules instead of more familiar for boards on Intel chipsets of the 300th series of slots for DDR4.

Despite the spread of DDR4 memory, the memory of the last generation DDR3 is still popular, so GIGABYTE decided to release a new motherboard with its support. Such a fee may especially appeal to those who are planning to "move" from the old platform, but wants to save as much as possible. And given the current prices for memory, the savings will be very noticeable.

Another interesting feature of the h310m DS2V DDR3 IS that it can be used to build a system with Core i7-8700K, for example, and DDR3 memory. Note that theoretically new Coffee Lake Refresh processors should be compatible with DDR3 RAM. At least Core i5-9600K, which is built on the same crystal as the previous generation models. However, the list of supported processors does not include new items. And hardly anyone will create such a system.

The rest of H310M DS2V DDR3 is quite a common motherboard entry-level Intel with H310 CPU socket LGA 1151v2. In addition to two slots for DDR3-1800 memory modules, there is a PCI Express 3.0 x16 slot and a pair of PCI Express 3.0 x1. There are only four SATA III ports available for connecting storage devices. The Board can also offer a Gigabit Realtek network controller and a sound subsystem on the Realtek ALC887 codec. On the back panel there are USB 2.0 (x4) and 3.0 (x2) ports, DVI-D and D-Sub (VGA) video outputs, network port, PS/2 connector and three 3.5 mm audio jacks.
