HomePod mini and new Apple TV set-top box will get U1 chips
Last year, Apple introduced the U1 chip with the iPhone 11, which provides support for ultra-wideband communication to determine the exact location of devices in space. The distance between two devices that support ultra-wideband communication can be accurately measured by calculating the time it takes for a radio wave to travel between the two devices.

So far, Apple has only used this feature for directional AirDrop in iOS 13. However, it is assumed that the main purpose of the U1 chip is to interact with the yet-to-be-announced AirTag trackers, which, according to rumors, can be attached to various items, such as a wallet, keys or suitcase, in order to easily find the item through the Locator app if necessary.
