Samsung retains the top spot despite shipments falling from 11 million units in the third quarter of 2019 to 10.3 million in the third quarter of 2020. This allowed Samsung to take 35.6% of the smartphone market.
Apple took second place, shipping 8.2 million smartphones, which allowed the company to take 28.5% of the market. A year earlier, the company shipped 8.1 million smartphones and held 26.4% of the market. Third place goes to Xiaomi, which increased shipments by 151.6%, shipping 3.7 million smartphones and taking 12.8% of the European market.
Analysts in one voice say that Huawei will strongly lose ground in the global smartphone market next year, but this has already happened in Europe. The company lost ground by 58.7% year-on-year, and its market share fell from 20% to 8.8%.
