Linus Torvalds on the Apple M1 MacBook

Linus Torvalds on the Apple M1 MacBook
Shortly after the announcement of the new Apple laptops on ARM-processors M1 on the forum Real World Tech, the well-known Linus Torvalds (Linus Torvalds) was asked what he thinks about the new Apple laptops? The response was predictable and only partly flattering for Apple.

Linus Torvalds spoke warmly about the 11-inch Apple Air ten years ago (recall, on an Intel processor). But even with him, it was embarrassing. Apple tech support took so long to replace the faulty display that it switched to more powerful laptops and, apparently, another manufacturer.

"I would love to have one," Torvalds wrote about the Apple M1 laptop, " if it only worked under Linux." But since the last time he used an Apple laptop, as Linus further noted, the company has moved even further away from supporting Linux.

"Apple can run Linux in their cloud, but their laptops don't," the Linux author added. — I've been waiting for a very long time for an ARM laptop that will run Linux. The new Air would be almost perfect if it weren't for the OS. And I don't have the time to mess with it or the inclination to fight companies that don't want to help."
