More than 2 million PlayStation 5 Units were sold in the first days of sales
|Sony recently announced that the launch of the PS5 was a record among consoles. However, the Japanese company did not disclose official figures. To fix this flaw, the vgchartz portal took up, which armed itself with preliminary data and calculated the approximate number of PlayStation 5 sold over two days of launches-November 12 and 19. The results were impressive, and the fact that the release took place in the context of a pandemic only adds weight to them. |
According to VGChartz, Sony sold between 2.1 and 2.5 million units of consoles for November 12 and 19 together. The PS5 version with a disk drive was much more popular than the version without an optical drive. It accounted for about 75 % of sales.
On the launch day in some countries of the world, that is, on November 12, the Japanese platform holder managed to sell from 1.3 to 1.6 million consoles. These are the combined figures for the United States, Canada, Mexico, Japan, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, and South Korea. The States showed the best result among all States — from 1 to 1.2 million purchased PlayStation 5. In Mexico-from 65 to 75 thousand, in Australia and New Zealand together - from 45 to 60 thousand, in Japan-from 115 to 120 thousand.
In Europe and the rest of the world, sales started on November 19 and on that day from 800 to 900 thousand consoles were sold. Most of the sales fell just in Europe-from 660 to 800 thousand. In the UK, from 230 to 280 thousand PlayStation 5 were purchased, in France — from 105 to 125 thousand, and in Germany — from 115 to 140 thousand.
