MSI introduced a budget version of the GeForce RTX 3070 Twin Fan series
|Micro-Star International has introduced a new budget series of graphics accelerators Twin Fan. At the moment, it includes only one GeForce RTX 3070 model. |
it is Difficult to understand which of the previous series was replaced by the Twin Fan version. For the Armor series, it looks too simple, and it doesn't look like the updated Aero series either.
According to the Videocardz resource, Twin Fan may represent a new incarnation of the budget TOC series from the Taiwanese manufacturer, which has not been updated since the release of video cards based on the NVIDIA Pascal architecture (GeForce GTX 1000 series models). This is hinted at at least by the sticker on the fans of the new GeForce RTX 3070 model.
Meanwhile, the Twin Fan series will be represented by video cards with reference characteristics, as well as a small factory overclocking. For example, for the presented GeForce RTX 3070 model, the declared GPU frequency in Boost mode is 1740 MHz, which is only 1% higher than the reference value. For all other indicators, the new product repeats the reference version.
On the technical side, only the printed circuit Board is allocated. For Twin Fan models, it has a non-standard design and is equipped with a set of 8-and 6-pin additional power connectors.
However, the configuration of video connectors for the new series of cards is normal — three DisplayPort and one HDMI are in place.
Early leaks indicated that the MSI Twin Fan series will also be supplemented by the GeForce RTX 3060 Ti model, which NVIDIA will introduce in a few days. It is also built on the GA104 chip, but with fewer CUDA cores. It is very likely that the younger model may lose the second additional power connector.
