NVIDIA has officially introduced GeForce RTX 2060
As expected, at a special event within CES 2019 NVIDIA announced a new graphics accelerator with Turing architecture, GeForce RTX 2060. The novelty is positioned as the most affordable solution with support for ray tracing in real time and artificial intelligence functions. The official price of GeForce RTX 2060 is set at $ 349, which according to NVIDIA allows you to get the latest features, previously available only in the flagship accelerators, in the middle price segment.
According to the manufacturer, the existing games GeForce RTX 2060 about 60% faster than the mass accelerator of the last generation, GTX 1060, and even in many cases ahead of the GTX 1070 Ti. Moreover, the available performance is enough to play Battlefield V with ray tracing enabled at 60 fps (1440p resolution). The implementation of a new anti — aliasing algorithm-DLSS, which uses GPU tensor cores and significantly increases the frame rate, should help a lot.
The expected technical characteristics of the new item were fully confirmed. GeForce RTX 2060 graphics cards will have 1920 CUDA cores, 240 tensor cores, and 30 RT cores for hardware ray tracing. In addition, these GPUs will have 120 texture blocks (TMU) and 48 raster operation blocks (ROP). The base frequency will be 1365 MHz with the ability to increase it in Boost-mode to 1680 MHz for both reference cards and Founders Edition. NVIDIA partners will be able to offer both models with nominal frequencies and overclocked modifications.
