Sales of tablets with connected keyboards increased by 170% over the year

Tablets with attached keyboards are particularly popular. Their sales grew by 170.5% year-on-year. At the end of the quarter, these models accounted for 40.1% of the market. At the same time, regular tablets without keyboards are losing popularity. They were sold 16.5% less in the third quarter of 2020 than in the third quarter of 2019. Education is named as the main driver of demand. This segment accounted for 89.1% of all tablets sold in Western Europe during the quarter.
Apple remains the regional leader. Having increased sales from 2,002 to 2,618 million units over the year, i.e. by 30.8%, this company was able to increase its share from 28.1% to 31.8%. Samsung is in second place. The South Korean manufacturer was able to increase sales by 58.6% — from 1,450 to 2,300 million devices. This led to an increase in its share from 20.4% to 28.0%. Third place is taken by Lenovo. It increased sales by 40.2%, which led to an increase in its share from 10.1% to 12.3%. The top five also includes Huawei and Amazon.com. Their shares are equal to 7.9% and 7.2%, respectively.
