Samsung patents on-screen fingerprint scanner for smartphones
All Samsung Galaxy S10 smartphones should get a fingerprint scanner in the screen area. Now this information is confirmed by the documentation published by the world intellectual property organization (WIPO).
The illustrations show a Samsung smartphone with a recognizable silhouette. You can see that the components of the on-screen fingerprint scanner will be integrated into the lower half of the display.
Patent documentation suggests that a small area will be responsible for fingerprinting. Apparently, it will be able to recognize the force of pressing.
The design of the Galaxy S10 smartphone itself will be different from the one shown in the illustration. According to the available data, the device will be offered in versions with 5.8-inch and 6.44-inch display.
The announcement of the Galaxy S10 series devices may take place in January 2019 at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas (USA) or in February at the Mobile industry exhibition Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona (Spain).
