|Synology announced the release of the SAT5200 solid-state drive with a capacity of 3.84 TB. According to the manufacturer, the 2.5-inch drive "is designed for Synology users who need large and reliable storage arrays that simultaneously provide high performance and low latency for mission-critical tasks." The new solid-state drive is said to offer enterprise-class reliability and durability. |
Synology SAT5200 drives are also available in 480, 960, and 1920 GB capacities. They are equipped with a SATA 6 Gbit/s interface, so the manufacturer does not even provide data transfer rates. In terms of performance, drives designed specifically for Synology systems provide up to 98,000 IOPS on random access reads in 4 KB blocks and up to 67,000 IOPS on write operations. The advantages of SSD can be attributed to comprehensive protection, including protection against data loss in the event of a power failure. Integration with Synology DSM provides improved analysis of drive life. The SAT5200 resource is claimed as 1.3 full rewrites per day (DWPD) during the five-year warranty period.
