The Photokina exhibition suspended
The website of the international exhibition center Koelnmesse, located in Cologne (Germany), published a message related to the Photokina exhibition of photographic equipment. The report says that due to the ongoing sharp decline in the market of photographic equipment, it was decided to stop organizing this exhibition for a while.

"Unfortunately, the current conditions in the industry do not provide a viable basis for a leading international exhibition in the field of photography and video," explained Gerald Böse, President and chief Executive officer of Koelnmesse. — This sharp decline after 70 years of joint history was very difficult. It is very painful for us to observe this trend in the industry, with which we have always maintained a close and trusting partnership. But we met the situation with a clear, honest decision not to continue this event; a solution to which, unfortunately, we have no alternative."

Even before the coronavirus pandemic began, the market was seriously shaken, and the annual decline in sales was expressed in double digits. In 2020, the momentum in this direction has significantly increased. This could not but affect the fate of the exhibition, which has been held in Cologne regularly since 1950, and has remained a leading industry event for many generations. It is still unclear whether the exhibition will be resumed one day.
