Twitter will resume checking popular accounts
This week, Twitter announced that it plans to resume verification of user accounts early next year. The company plans to introduce completely new requirements for accounts whose owners want to get a tick next to their name.

Rumors that Twitter is working on a new system for verifying user data first surfaced in June. Now the company has officially confirmed this information. Assuming that the essence of account verification remains the same, the pages of government employees, companies, brands, non-profit organizations, news agencies, freelance journalists, representatives of the entertainment industry, athletes, activists, and other influential people will be eligible for verification.

If the activity of a verified account decreases or becomes atypical, it may lose its verified status. Twitter is actively engaging with users at this stage to work together to determine how the account verification process should be conducted.
