Western Digital introduced red Pro and Purple hard drives with a 18 TB capacity
|Western Digital has announced new hard drives designed for use in network storage, video surveillance systems, and other specialized equipment. |
In particular, 3.5-inch WD Red Pro drives with a capacity of 16 and 18 TB are presented. The devices are based on traditional magnetic recording (CMR) technology. The spindle speed is 7200 revolutions per minute. The solutions are suitable for use in network storage (NAS) operating around the clock. In addition, these drives can form the basis of various RAID arrays.
A new hard drive of the WD Purple family was also announced. This drive, made in a 3.5-inch form factor, is capable of storing 18 TB of information. The solution is designed for video surveillance and video Analytics systems.
Finally, the WD Purple SC QD101 microSD memory card is presented, which can hold 1 TB of data. The product is designed primarily for video cameras with artificial intelligence. The operating temperature range ranges from minus 25 to plus 85 degrees Celsius.
The WD Red Pro and WD Purple hard drives will go on sale in October, and the WD Purple SC QD101 card will be available in November. Unfortunately, there is no information about the approximate price of new products yet.
