Western Digital will rename the company SanDisk from the first of January
merican Corporation Western Digital bought the assets of SanDisk Corporation back in 2016 for $16 billion, but until now the latter has retained not only its name, but also its associated trademarks. From January 1 next year, SanDisk will be renamed Western Digital and will change its organizational form.

The TechPowerUp resource reports that SanDisk Corporation will be renamed Western Digital Limited Liability Company from the first of January next year, and the company's organizational form will be transformed from a Corporation to a limited liability company. The company's abbreviated name is Western Digital GK. There is no immediate termination of the use of the SanDisk trademark, but it cannot be ruled out that it will be abolished in the segment of memory cards and USB drives.

Parent company Western Digital has long integrated the family of solid-state drives into the structure of its brands, so it was only a matter of time before further unification of designations across the entire product range. It is noteworthy that another heir to Toshiba's memory business, Kioxia, also sells its products under its own brand name.
